Interaction-Design (IxD) is a component of User Experience (UX) design which is closely related to User-Centered Design (UCD) and Human-Computer Interaction (HCI). These concepts are not new, but they are all based on the idea that software ultimately has to work for users to provide value. As obvious as this idea sounds it is, more often than not, regarded as secondary when software is planned and developed.
A user-centred approach to software development allows businesses to get more returns by getting better at building software users actually want and combining functions in ways that make users more efficient and effective. These in turn lead to a better reputation, more customer loyalty and satisfaction, more sales, lower support costs, less rework and a range of other benefits.
